. Very valuable book. Not really a page turner though. It's a collection of questions and answers on computer related topics written to the professional or the student - not the regular Joe. Unless you are really into computer science/engineering, you will probably put the book down after around question 15 in the first chapter. Don't get me wrong: this book is full of information and is presented in a good format. It's just not for me.So I put down that book and have started skim-reading through "Google Hacks" by Tara Calishain & Rael Dornfest
. I'll tell you about it after I've gotten a little farther into it, but it looks good so far.

Re: Google hacks. I love one of the simpler ones. Have you tried the different fake language translations of Google? The one with Klingon and the Swedish Chef and stuff? Such a hoot. :)
Usually I'm too busy to really pick through the choice stuff and I'm not really in an area that gives me access to the best stuff (except for computer related titles). But I am in a library every day so I can squeeze in a few minutes to grab something quite often.
Yeah, I've seen the alternative language Googles. Everytime I try to hate Google I find something cool they've done and they make me like them again!
Aw, now I don't know why you'd even try to hate them. :) I like how they're always depicted in magazines as a guy with two heads. Heh.

[to andie] I always try to hate the Big Guys (like Microsoft, the US, Hollywood, etc.). It helps me stay honest (as opposed to just following along).
Actually that's not entirely true. Quite often I give people the benefit of the doubt. Even people everyone hates. Actually, that's what I usually do. I hate the people that everyone loves and love the people everyone hates. Something like that. Sometimes it's not as black and white as that but that's a good rough estimate.
